Seeking an Engineering Apprentice

Elemental Microanalysis currently has a position for an Engineering Apprentice.

This would involve a day release to Exeter College studying a BTEC in mechanical / production engineering. We are developing our engineering facilities to provide support for the manufacturing processes at our site in Okehampton. Over the course of the apprenticeship and in addition to college activities, you would be involved in the integration of new automated equipment such as robotics, CNC / machining, and bespoke semi-automated process equipment. You will have the chance to practice skills learnt from college, in terms of process engineering and Lean manufacturing, by applying them in daily activities.

  • Attending Machine breakdowns and participating in as many learning opportunities as possible.
  • Assisting within the relevant department, but also learning about other aspects of the company.
  • Observing health and safety procedures.
  • Completing all tests, presentations, and other required evaluations with respect to college activities.
  • Working in the office and traveling to other sites when required.
  • Positively receiving feedback.
  • Attending meetings and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Keeping a log of everything learned.
  • Building professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Have good time management and interpersonal skills.
