Production/Manufacturing Engineer

The role will involve, along with daily activities, conceptually designing automated and semi-automated pieces of equipment. We have a good size workshop with a Hass toolroom milling machine that is utilised to manufacture components in-house.

The machine shop is still growing in capability as more products are identified for in-house manufacture. The ideal candidate would have a keen eye for process improvements in terms of methodologies with a multi-disiplined background, be able to design/build solutions to improve the current manufacturing system.  We have already started to implement LEAN initiatives, such as the 5’s and Visual management systems, to reduce waste and improve efficiency within the group.

We have an engineering apprentice that requires guidance and mentoring as he starts a manufacturing engineering Level 2 course this year.

The role will be on-site at our Okehamption facility.

Qualifications:

  • ONC or HNC Manufacturing/Production Engineer
  • CNC Machining Programming Knowledge
  • Experience in Lean initiatives
  • Ability to use AutoCAD LT
  • Experience of PLC programming Siemens S7 and Logo software

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing equipment, machinery, and buildings to include the implementation of preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain existing maintenance contracts and implement new contracts as required.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues.
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades and improvements to equipment and manage the entire process from quote to implementation including post-implementation review.
  • Identify process improvements in-line with manufacturing best practice and modern techniques; manage the implementation and subsequent reviews.
  • Monitoring of production efficiency, including waste and implement a waste monitoring program with measure to reduce overall waste in the production process.
  • Update CAD product drawings with Quality Manger and create new CAD drawings as required.
  • Identify  and reverse engineer products for in-house/contract production.
  • Design/build production equipment to improve efficiencies and improve methodologies within the production process
